Truth About ‘Unconditional’ Love And The Difference Between Conditional Love

Some argue that there’s no such thing as “unconditional love” and I argue that there is, but I do appreciate your position since, after all, to love someone requires the condition that you’re able to love them.

I’m not an advocate that you should love everybody, all the time, always. I think that’s heinous and insane. So in that sense, you can’t have unconditional, blanket “love.”

The unconditional love which I’m referring is one you have once you’ve considered someone as worthy of your love. Love – that deep affection, whether sexual or platonic or professional – you get from a combination of different experiences and combinations of affection, value, respect, admiration, arousal, adoration, cooperation, etc. It’s different for everyone.

Once you have that love which you’ve assessed and felt is appropriate for that individual, you can love them unconditionally by simply loving them for being them *without conditions or stipulations* (aside from the understanding they will always be ‘them’ and sometimes, their being ‘them’ CAN change (things like mind-altering drugs) at which point may be worth reconsidering their being love-worthy).

You have to overcome it.

Sounds simple and it is. But here’s the important bit: this sentiment, “you have to overcome it,” presumes it can be overcome and that IT IS TO BE OVERCOME.

The challenge you face is that you don’t believe you can. After all, you’ve tried before! So you presume, “It MUST be a naturally-occurring, human thing!”

But the truth actually is it’s because you haven’t learned how to do it until now.

So, firstly, you have to understand that while you can’t communicate ‘directly’ with your “emotional core” (the processes in your brain and body that constitutes your “feels”, your emotions), you CAN communicate directly with a process in your brain that does communicate directly to your emotional core…

The process is called your “Ego.”

Your ego is a process inside your brain that was born when you learned language. Just like all language is an “abstraction”… a representation of what goes on in the real world or concepts you can derive or imbue meaning… your ego is one of those abstractions from language, one specifically of YOU.

Your ego is an abstraction of you. It’s a representation of you.

When you talk to yourself, who do you imagine you’re talking to?

But remember, your ego is not you. In fact, your ego doesn’t give a fuck about you. All it gives a fuck about is how *IT’S* perceived! (Because, after all, it’s an ABSTRACTION with, for most people, a very rigid definition of “who IT is”).

Remember that ALL fears you’ve once had you’ve felt the emotions in real time! How do you think you got over them?

That’s right! You got some knowledge. But once you’ve gotten that knowledge, it didn’t immediately relieve your “feels.” It took some time. Your ego, once it appreciated the new information fully, communicated with your emotional core until all came to quorom.

In the same manner, communicate with your ego that jealousy is simply a compounded emotion of 1) Fear of loss, and 2) Rage from feeling that fear of loss!

Once you TRULY appreciate that, it will be SO self-evident, you won’t remember a time you were jealous again.

Here are the top 3 things people take for granted in relationships… and it’s also important to note that being, and therefore feeling, taken for granted is the death-knell of every loving relationship.

Even more tragic than that is it’s the standard rather than the exception. Overwhelmingly so. It’s endemic, because of this reason:

When you grant yourself to another person in exchange for their granting themselves to you, the inevitable outcome of that, always, is you’ll [both] feel taken for granted.

Because of this, most everyone cannot point out the cause of the majority of their pain and suffering in relationships because you begin with the premise that each person takes the other for granted, which is a funny and tragic irony.

Here are my top 3 things you take for granted in a “taken-as-granted” relationship:

1 – Attention

Rather than each person putting in the effort required to merit the attention of the other or negotiate for it, they just presume it’s given to them and that it “must be interesting” – after all, they hold the “title of beloved.”

2 – Sex

No longer do either partner do the upkeep necessary to be an ‘attractive person’, being arousing, or sexually engaging… they simply presume sex is granted to the other and might even believe it’s mandated.

3 – Love

While at the outset you’ve got tremendous infatuation (the chemically bolstered state your brain drugs you so you could produce offsprings), as a result, you also become more intimate and the relationship increases in intensity, until for many that make the lifelong vow of sexual exclusivity and eternal “love.”

As the infatuation chemicals fade away, the intensity wanes, and the intimacy rises and you become pheromonally familiar where your brain perceives them as “familiar” (family – as in siblings), the chemistry goes away and “love” takes on different forms and definitions.

How You Can Manage Your Emotions To Get Over Jealousy And Other Things!

If you believe you can’t control your emotions because it’s a “naturally-occurring thing” (i.e. “jealousy can’t be controlled because it’s a ‘part of the human, social, experience'”), then I’d like you to consider that you’ve unwittingly pulled the wool over your own eyes.

“Enlightenment”, after all, isn’t a natural thing. Humans didn’t evolve to become highly intelligent. We’ve only evolved to have the requisite intelligence for survival.

But, the irony is, enlightenment is the pursuit of unlearning a lot of things and reconfiguring your perspective on things.

Managing your emotions is as good a start as any, so here’s what I’d like you to consider so you can “control” your emotions:

1 – You have to recognize and appreciate that there are many aspects, and things, and ideas, and people which you’ve felt a particular way until you’ve acquired more knowledge about it at which point you’ve felt differently (i.e. Santa Clause, ghosts, etc)

2 – While you can’t DIRECTLY communicate with your “emotional core” (the processes in your body which amounts to your “feels”), you can directly communicate with your ‘ego’ logically and your ego can communicate with your emotional core.

3 – As you persistently, ongoingly, communicate with your ego logically (much of which I provide in my posts), you’ll come into quorum and your logic, your ego, and your emotions will align. This happens without your recognition of it.

This is why “All truths are self-evident” because even if at first you fight against it, when you’ve come to quorum, you’ll find a time when you don’t even know you’ve felt about a particular thing any differently!

In other words, the same individuals that can’t imagine they could ever get over the notion of “jealousy,” after sufficient time has passed when they’ve acquired the appropriate perspective, will have a hard time recalling when they’ve ever felt jealousy!

The All-Important Relationship Skill That You Have To Learn

The all-important skill you need so you can have mind-bogglingly incredible relationships is the skill of negotiation.

All of communication is a negotiation.

You don’t see it that way because you have the presumption a negotiation is when you’re drafting contracts, coming to agreements, or creating transactions…

…sounds like all of communication to me.

At the most fundamental, minimum level of communication, you’re at least negotiating for their attention.

I’ll give you an illustration:

Presume those that don’t recognize their communication is a negotiation is at a “Level Zero.”

Level 0 is rudimentary… whether you accept something or you don’t accept something.

Without your recognizing it, this is fundamental of all communication. The acceptance, or not, of something is a negotiation even when that negotiation was blissfully granted without conscious recognition of it.

Remember ~ for anything to make sense in your mind, you must first accept premises and logical axioms for those statements to become logical. (i.e. when someone says, “That was delicious,” you can presume they had probably eaten, they can taste, they speak english, etc.)

At Level 1, you’re no longer merely accepting or denying things, but also capable of providing counter-offers or “reframes.” And the negotiation skills become more intricate from there.

The problem-domain of anyone unable to recognize they must negotiate in relationships is when they often presume things to be accepted and therefore granted. This leads to the death-knell of all loving relationships, being, and therefore feeling, taken for granted.
